Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Funding Yield OS.
General
What is Funding Yield OS?
FYOS is an institutional-grade analytics platform for evaluating funding rate opportunities in crypto perpetual futures. We transform raw funding data into actionable intelligence by modeling decay, capacity, and execution friction.
What exchanges are supported?
Currently supported:
- Binance (USDT-M Perpetuals)
- Bybit (USDT Perpetuals)
- OKX (USDT-M Swaps)
Is this a trading platform?
No. FYOS is an analytics platform. We don't execute trades, hold funds, or connect to exchange accounts. You use FYOS insights to inform your own trading decisions on your preferred exchange.
How often is data updated?
- Funding rates: Every 8 hours (at funding settlement)
- Open interest: Hourly
- Derived metrics: Continuously recalculated
Metrics
What is "Real APR" vs "Funding APR"?
Funding APR is the annualized headline funding rate — what exchanges display.
Real APR (Survivable APR) is what you can realistically capture after accounting for rate decay and persistence. Real APR is always ≤ Funding APR.
What is mirage ratio?
Mirage ratio is the percentage of headline yield that won't survive your holding period. A 40% mirage ratio means 40% of the displayed yield is "mirage" — it looks real but won't materialize.
What is half-life?
Half-life measures funding persistence — how long until the current rate decays to 50% of its value. Longer half-life = more persistent funding = lower mirage.
What is a good survivability score?
| Score | Quality |
|---|---|
| 70+ | Excellent |
| 50-70 | Good |
| 30-50 | Moderate |
| < 30 | Poor |
How is capacity calculated?
Capacity is derived from open interest and historical funding sensitivity. Soft capacity is where returns begin degrading; hard capacity is the maximum reasonable size.
Simulation
Why is my simulated return lower than expected?
The simulation applies several reality adjustments:
- Decay — Funding won't persist at current levels
- Survivability — Sign-flip and variance penalties
- Capacity — Position size may exceed soft capacity
- Fees — Entry/exit fees are deducted
What fees should I use?
Use your actual exchange fee tier. Defaults are:
- Entry: 5 bps (0.05%)
- Exit: 5 bps (0.05%)
Maker vs. taker rates can significantly affect results.
Can returns be negative?
Yes. If fees exceed expected funding capture (especially for short horizons or low-quality opportunities), net return can be negative.
Planner
How does the allocator choose opportunities?
The allocator uses marginal utility optimization:
- Ranks by edge value
- Allocates incrementally respecting capacity
- Diversifies across exchanges/assets
- Optimizes for risk-adjusted return
What do the stress tests show?
Stress tests model portfolio performance under adverse conditions:
- Funding Compression — Rates drop 50%
- Fee Widening — Fees increase 2x
- Trust Degradation — Reliability scores drop
Why isn't all my capital allocated?
Capital may be left unallocated if:
- Available opportunities are low quality
- Capacity constraints are binding
- Risk tolerance limits are reached
This is intentional — better to hold cash than force poor allocations.

Technical
How accurate are predictions?
We track prediction accuracy in the Trust Layer. Historical accuracy varies by opportunity but typically 70-85% for high-reliability opportunities.
Can I backtest strategies?
Not currently in the platform. Historical data is available via API for Pro/Desk users to perform external backtesting.
Is there an API?
Yes, for Pro and Desk tiers. See API Documentation.
